Friday Freebie - DVD and Ribbons

13/04/2012

Morning everyone, how are you all?

With all the buzz we have created with the launch of our DVD there could only be one prize for this weeks Friday FREEBIE!

I have to tell you a little story about these tulips........Do you remember Tony and I went to Holland last year for a little holiday.  I took so many pictures (as you do) and I decided later in the year to turn our downstairs cloakroom into a photo gallery.

I got some wonderful black square picture frames and selected the best of the photos to put in them.  They go all the way around the room.  It is the first thing you notice when you walk in, everyone seems to take much longer in that room!!  But I wanted some tulips to go in the window.  I am not a fan of silk flowers, so thought I would find some really nice tulips.  Well I looked for weeks, I had Bev searching the internet (Bev is the queen of internet shopping!) but even she could find nothing.

So I gave up, but my window looked so plain.  I must have been doing a bit of moaning to Tony one eveing because he simple said "Make some".    Ummmmmmmmm..............so I did, and now you can too.

Included with the DVD we will also give a selection of the ribbons used in the projects featured.  So you too can make your own tulips.......they really are very simple, and the best bit about the DVD is you can pause it!!  I like!  So for a chance to win, just leave a comment below, any problems with our spam filter, just send your comment to rachie at rachie.craftyribbons@gmail.com as I will not have internet this weekend.

Hope you are still enjoying all the wonderful creations made for our Baby washing challenge, todays goodies have been made by Karen.  Glad to hear things are busy at work Karen, your shop sounds just the place I would love to visit.

Oooh, oooh where did you get those scrabble tiles.....I want!! Super card Karen.

This is unique Karen, a mini clip frame for the grandchildren.  I would agree with your sentiment Karen, Monkey world was a pleasure last week! I love the way the ribbon leads your eye to the photo, wicked.

I hope you have a super weekend and the weather is kind to us.

I have been struggling with my camera compact flash card all morning, hence the lateness of this posting.  So no more photos for today!

If you are unable to leave a comment due to our spam filters (comment disappears when screen is refreshed), please email it to rachie.craftyribbons@gmail.com
and we will add it for you. All the comments go into our "Bingo" bag and we draw a random number(s) on Monday.
Please check back to see if you have won, it is up to you to claim your prize - we do not contact you.

Our Challenge Blog - Things with wings

12/04/2012

Thank you to everyone that joined in with our last challenge, hope you all had fun. Two weeks are up so it is time for a NEW Challenge on our Ribbon Challenge blog here.

Maja is hosting this NEW Challenge, she has a love of butterflies so has named her challenge...

Things with Wings

.........and would like us to use butterflies, maybe a fairy or two, angels.......I think you get the idea.  I have been playing around with some NEW Satin Ribbon and this idea just flew into my mind!

Just two lengths of ribbons that I have folded and sewed to make two little bow ties, then joined them together with a stitch.

Here is a close up so you can see the details.  The body is made from beads and wire - I wanted to do a tutorial for you, but my thumb complained about making these two butterflies.  So I did what I have been told to do by the Docs to get my thumb better and STOPPED. It is responding to the new treatment, although I do look a bit like a parcel wrapped up with black tape!

The design girls have come up with some super inspiration again (thanks girls) why not pop over and have a peak HERE, while you are looking around why not join in with us on this new challenge.

This NEW Satin Ribbon is the ribbon I used to make the roses for the Wedding cake on our DVD.  I must admit this wedding cake did look fab. I say that in the past tense as the cake has been eaten.  We gave the bottom tier to Janets craft club to have a slice with their cuppas, the top tier we all had with our morning coffee and the middle tier ummmmmmm a certain person begining with a T has been enjoying it! NOBODY was allowed to touch the cake until we had comfirmation from the videoing team that all was well.

The  Satin Ribbon can be found here, the Rose tutorial is here and the DVD is here. Hope you enjoy them as much as we did the cake!

Challenge goodie time, todays selection of creations are from Sharon.

I do like the simplicity of this card Sharon, perfect colour match with the papers and ribbons.

"Mum to be" how fab is that, I love the softness the sheer ribbon gives this card Sharon.

You do work with some fun images Sharon, fantastic.

Adorable Sharon, such a wicked combo of colours, image and ribbons.

This is such a super idea Sharon.  Two flannels that have been sewn together to make a taggie.

Fantastic work Sharon thank you so much for all your wonderful creations.

That's me done for another day, meet you all back here tomorrow for the Friday FREEBIE!

Weekend of catch up

10/04/2012

What a busy weekend we had, fantastic chance to catch up on all those jobs that never seem to get done.

Ever since we blew up our mail server up a few weeks back, we have been experiencing problems.  Some of our wonderful followers have not been receiving emails, they have been bouncing back to us - telling us the email no longer existed.  So over the weekend our IT guys have been moving all of our followers and customers details onto a new system.  It is really quiet exsiting for us, although I am having to learn new software which I hate.

Anyway, did you see our NEW DVD? There are some super projects on there 12 in total, and yes the Tulips on the front cover are made from ribbon!!  We had planned to only shoot 11 projects, but I wore my button necklaces in all the videos (yes you do get to see me, I even do an intro on the DVD) that we decided to show you how to make the necklace.  Do you want to watch it?  If so click the little triangle in the centre of the screen.

What do you think? It has a long way to go to catch up with our Ribbon Carnation video, that has had over 344,000  views on YouTube. Rock on Tommy!! Thanks everyone.

All 12 videos can be downloaded straight from our site HERE, so you do not have to wait for Mr Postie and you can just download the ones that are your "thing". As you can imagine we get asked lots of question on "How to" with ribbon especially at the exhibitions, so this is how the DVD came about.

"How do you tie a bow" is the most asked question - simple if you know, if not then this clip is for you! Bows are here.

Thanks to everyone that left super comments on the blog and also Facebook, it was great to read them all.  So who has won the £25 Friday FREEBIE (Please check Facebook if you liked our page to see if you won there)

Sam did the honours for me today, with that cheeky smile of his!! He picked number..................

Number 45 = Julie Swann
What a fab bunch of ribbons and a perfect way to celebrate spring, Easter and my 50th birthday which was this weekend.  Hope you all have a fab Easter break. xx

Somebody was looking down on you this weekend Julie, you have £25 to spend on our website, any ideas what you will buy?  Please send me an email to craftyribbons@gmail.com to claim your voucher.

What with the email problem and launching the DVD I am rather behind on sharing all the wonderful creations from the challenge.  So sorry for the delay this is a little taster to jog your memories...

Andrea made this delightful Tattie teddy card - adorable Andrea thank you.

More creations tomorrow, I promise.

Today is the day.....

Delivered in person

02/04/2012

Carol delivered these wonderful creations to me at the Hobbycraft show in Glasgow, a few weeks back. She told me that she only visited our blog after meeting with us for the first time the previous year, and has been following us ever since.

It was good to have a chat, and she could not resist buying one or two lengths of ribbon!!!

This photo is of her son, but I gather he is no longer this small!  I think this is a beautiful layout, the colours are all soft and muted.

The addition of the ribbon trim frames the scrap page, and the cross over detail is super.

I love this technique of cutting the ribbon and then adding it to the same ribbon - a form of decoupage.  Very clever Carol.

Also in the bag Carol gave me was this delightful card and tag.  I do like your style of bow Carol.

What a stunner.

Thank you for joining in with our challenge Carol, and thanks for coming to visit us.  I still have lots and lots of goodies from this challenge to share.

Did you have fab weather over the weekend?  It was a cracking day yesterday, it was also Rachies birthday and we had a party in the garden.  A really fun day.

It was great to read that there are lots of Princesses and Princes around, small and large!  Oh and a few feline ones, I recall.

Ummmmmm I go outside to find Mollie ..................and....................

...............she has attached ribbon to the back of her scooter...............and it is my EXCLUSIVE ribbon.  I simply get told "It is my favorite Ali"................not a lot I can say.............So who wanted some of our NEW Ribbons, the decision is all down to our Mollie..............which number will she pick from the "Bingo" bag............

Number 33 = Isla
We have one little princess in our house who loves when your ribbon order arrives in our house, best ribbon supplier

Isla your little Princess has some NEW Ribbons to play with, all we  need is your address please to craftyribbons@gmail.com  Thank you for a super comment "best ribbon supplier" - my head has not grown too big, I promise!!

Thanks for joining in everyone.

My Princess and My Prince

27/03/2012

Look what we have added to our Best of British Collection....................

Princess and Prince ribbons with little crowns - we think they are rather special and you can find them HERE.

Struggle to find a way of keeping all your ribbons together.  Always takes ages to find the ribbon you are after?  What ever you do with your ribbons they always seem to get knotted up?  Then Mandy may have solved your problem.....................

She has attached ALL her ribbons to washing racks!!!  She folds them up to store them and just unfolds when she needs a ribbon.  I think this is a WICKED idea, thanks for sharing it Mandy.

....................now how many washing racks do I need to buy!

More super challenge creations from Claire and Lucy today.

Claire has made this delightful bag and matching framed feet.

I have no idea how Claire made this frame, but it is just adorable.  I do love the lime juice ribbon in this Baby collection.

Lucy you have put a lot of time into this heart, I am sure any mum would be delighted to receive this little gift.

Your crazy patchwork design Lucy is wacky and fun, it can never be the wrong way up!!  We had your cushions hanging on the back wall of our exhibition stands Lucy, they created quite a stir with comments and questions.  I kept being asked if you had scented them, but each time I took them down or put them up I forgot to smell them!!!  Did you scent them Lucy?

Wonderful creations Claire and Lucy, the scope of creations we have seen on this challenge has been vast, just what we like to see.

Another bright and sunny day here in Dorset, I must leave my computer.....................I hear my camera calling me.

Friday FREEBIE - Bev says SPRING is here.....

23/03/2012

......that is what she decided yesterday. SPRING is here, so guess what she made?

............A NEW Bev's bag called SPRING.

Filled with yummy NEW Spring ribbons, in shades of aqua, lime, pink, yellow and orange.  Mostly narrow ribbons this time, Bev was in a "slim" mood yesterday. There are stripes, flowers, butterflies, gingham, plain, grosgrain, satin and I think I saw a frog too!

We are sure this would put a SPING into anyones step!  You can find Bev's NEW Ribbon Bag HERE.  Still the same wicked price of £5.00

What can you do with a Bev's bag.........................................I had a couple of helpers yesterday while taking this photo.............................so we had a play with the ribbons.................

...............we decided that as the leaves had not come out on the trees........................

...............the branches needed some extra colour............................................

..................amazing how a few lengths of ribbon can give so much fun...................

......................and the tree looked good too..................................

Never seen a ribbon tree? Not something you would do in your woods? You need to come to the woods in Blandford, all kind of "different" things happen in our woods...........................

...................honest, this young lad was tight rope walking between two trees.  Mollie had a go on the way back.

What would you do with a Bev's Bag?  Something different maybe? We have 3 Bev's bags as this weeks Friday FREEBIE prize, so leave us a comment and tell us.  Please remember to refresh your screen after leaving a comment, if it has disappeared then it has been eaten, so just email it to craftyribbons@gmail.com

I have some super Baby Washing Challenge creations to share with you today from Joanna and Laura.

I hung this taggie blanket from on the front of the exhibtion stand, just infront of our demo table, it was much admired Joanna.  The fleece is so soft, you inspired lots of customers to make their own - thank you.

I remember Sydney used to love playing with the label on her Winnie Bear, specially when she was going to sleep.

Oooooh this is sooooooo cute Joanna, really special.

This delightful little parcel is from Laura, I have to confess that I could not bring myself to unwrap it to photograph  the contents.....it looks just so perfect.  But I can tell you there is a little pair of socks inside..............ahhhhhhhh.

Thank you Joanna and Laura for your fab creations and for joining in with the challenge.

Is anybody else having problems with this solar eruption or is it just us..................we have blown up our smpt server, broadband is all over the place, computer graphics card just went errrrrr on us, facebook is telling Bev she lives in Camberley, Rachies phone will not even connect to any wi-fi's and my computer keyboard just died!!!

Wierd.................or............what!!!!

Hello wednesday - hair band

21/03/2012

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

Just what I need this morning - woke up to no broadband AGAIN!!  It seems as if I have spent all morning speaking to BT.  I was due to have a relaxing morning.

Janet popped into the warehouse just before we left for Glasgow, she needed some ribbon to make more ribbon brooches............Ooooh I like those Janet.  She kindly gave me this white daisy to have a play with.

All I did was to make a ribbon slip knot braiding band with swiss dot ribbon.  A 3mtr length is just long enough for hair bands.  Using my NEW hot glue gun (the other one had so much glue stuck to the outside that it just stopped working) I stuck the braid to the plastic hair band and pinned the figure of eight daisy brooch to the top.

My model was very helpful and was very happy wearing the hair band yesterday afternoon.

Mollie and Ollie (Rachie went all gooooey when she saw this photo)

Sorry this posting is a little later then normal for a Wednesday but I had to go for treatment on my thumb again.  I am not a very happy bunny, and returned to the warehouse feeling rather down.  My thumb is not responding to treatment - Rachie suggested chopping it off, before she saw the tears.
