Deckchair Stripes
17/06/2010
Woooohoooo!! We received one of our ribbon deliveries yesterday - yippeee!

What do you think of our NEW Deckchair Stripe Ribbons? We think they are fantastic ribbons and such awesome summer colours.
25mm grosgrain with WOVEN stripes that run along the length of the ribbon. You can find them all HERE
Bring the beach into your home and projects with these Deckchair Stripe Ribbons.
Talking of stripes, it's that time of year again - Dorchester Carnival. We are not as much involved this year as there is no Carnival Queen, so no float to cover in ribbon bows. Although we have been doing a few bits and pieces for the Carnival team. Rachie and Marten (Rachies husband) are both on the committee so where they go little Miss Mollie must follow.

All Mollie was missing was her Yellow Jacket - last years was way too small for her. She is hard at work here trying to make the crayons stay in the pot while she pushes the trolley.

I dusted off my sewing machine for this little jacket, expecting to just whiz around the ribbon. No such luck, sewing machine had the hump (may be I need to use it more often). Tony took it to our local repair shop on Monday only to be told they couldn't look at it this week because of the World Cup. Come On! What has the World Cup got to do with mending sewing machines!!
Rachie had brought in a large yellow jacket, which I cut down to fit Mollie, then I hand sewed the luminous pink reflective ribbon around all the edges. As you can see we have been unable to remove it from Mollie all day!
Have fun at the Carnival guys.

A Ribbon Surprise
15/06/2010

Some girls get all the luck!
We had an email recently asking if we did such a thing as a ribbon hamper. Oooh that's a good idea. So I rang up the gentleman to find out what he had in mind. A friend of his just loved ribbon and he wanted to give her a prezzie full of ribbon - well we can all relate to that!
So I had great fun today shopping in my own shop! I walked up and down the ribbon aisles with my shopping basket, selecting this ribbon and that. I had them all laid out on our big work table, just to make sure they looked super good.
I then wrapped groups of ribbons together in tissue paper with little tags, this was so the surprise would go on and on.
We do hope the "lucky lady" will enjoy her ribbon surprise.

The FIVE winners are....
14/06/2010

What a nightmare it was to try to get ALL five numbers to show in the picture at once, Mollie didn't quite make it in this one, so you just have to trust us that it was number 28. She got bored and was walking off.

Well done everyone you have some wonderful ribbons coming your way, all we need are addresses please to craftyribbons@gmail.com . We had no idea how butterfly crazy everyone was, almost every order since Friday has included these scrummy butterflies. It is not often that I say this, BUT I do not think our stock is not going to last long - and sadly I am unable to get further supplies (I have already contacted the manufacturers - boo hoo). So for a little inside information, if you want these butterflies, please do get in quick. I am not trying to sell them to you, I am just trying to avoid tears!
A huge thank you to everyone who left such delightful comments, they are much read and loved! Please do not worry about Winnie, he may wear dresses but he is loved so much by little Sydney that I think he is quite happy to be what ever she wants him to be! As Bev said, she picks the colours and ribbons and I just make the outfits, she always wants skirts.
Still no deliveries today, I am out of the office a couple of mornings this week and I bet they will turn up then.

Bev has a NEW Ribbon Bag
12/06/2010
Glad to hear you all like my NEW butterfly ribbons. I had to almost lock them away from Bev, she sooooooooooo wanted to put them into her last Bev's bag. As it is I can spot 5 ribbons in her NEW Bev's bag that are not on the website - what am I going to do with her?!

She has called this her "Celebrate Summer" Ribbon Bag, you can find it HERE. Just had another look at the photo, there are SIX NEW ribbons, and one is my Balloon ribbon. That's it, when (or should I say IF) our ribbon deliveries turn up next week, I am going to lock myself in the office while I unpack them on my own - making sure I make really loads of loud oooohs and aahhs.
OK, OK I am not that mean, we all enjoy opening boxes full of NEW ribbons.

Still Blooming
08/06/2010
Here is another collection of Full Bloom Challenge goodies and despite the recent rain they are still blooming!

This is a first for our blog, we have never had a decorated ribbon candle before, very ingenious Tracy. I would agree with your note, I would remove the white leaf garland before lighting the candle.

Yes, Tracy must have stamped (or something) onto the candle, because she has sent in a card with the same image. We love the ribbon border. Glad you enjoyed your first ribbon challenge with us Tracy.

Poppy sent in this sweet card, those purple glitter flowers are gorgeous. Great idea to mimic the ribbon flowers.

This is a very colourful card, and looks as if the flowers have been printed and not pieces of ribbon - amazing Poppy.
We still have a few more goodies to arrive, but I have a funny challenge feeling coming on - What do you think? Do you also have that challenge feeling? Fancy joining in? Just keep an eye on the blog.
Boo Hoo no ribbon delivery today! So I made up for it by buying some more NEW ones!
I liked your story Clare (read Clare's comment of yesterday), so we are not unique down here in Dorset then?

Oh No, No Ribbon!
07/06/2010
What a fab weekend, the weather was just perfect. This is a very quick post as we are in the middle of a photo shoot and we need to finish before it rains!
Sydney wanted to pull the number from the "Bingo" bag this week, from the top of the ladder!!
So the lucky winner of this weeks Friday FREEBIE is.......

No. 32 Tracey and Paul
Tracey wrote: "what a fantastic friday freebie x x x"
WOW Tracey you have won our first ever voucher for £20.00, that's amazing, do you have any ideas of what you may spend it on? Please contact us at craftyribbons@gmail.com so we can tell you how to use it. Sorry to all the rest of you that left wonderful comments, I wish I could give vouchers to you all.
I will tell you a little funny story:- we were all busy in the warehouse this morning, pulling orders and sorting emails and the post from the weekend. We heard a van pull up but none of us took any notice, then Rachie shouts "UPS". We all drop everything and charge outside. Bev who works at the back of the warehouse, was the last one outside - "Nuh nuh we beat you" we cried together. "Ah but I have the scissors" as she waves them in the air. Uh that's not fair.
The UPS man opens the sliding door of the van and nearly falls out, not expecting a gaggle of women waiting for him (he went bright red!). We were all jumping up and down waiting for a new delivery of ribbons (sad I know!), UPS do not normally deliver to us you see. He started unloading boxes and boxes of Mail Lite envelopes - "NO" we cried together, "Where is our ribbon?". What a let down, we had to have an early tea break to get over the disappointment.
Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

Hello Wednesday
02/06/2010

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all down hill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
No, I have not gone mad, well maybe a little, it's just that wednesday is just another day of the week. kicking it's heels. Wednesday's need celebrating, it's a special day - the middle of the week.
Crafty Ribbons is going to say "hello wednesday" every week, it may be a project, a simple card idea a photo or even a thought of the day. Come and check out our wednesday's and see how special they can be.

A simple make over - the white dress was a bargain at £6.00 and was perfect for my little project. I do not believe you could make this cotton dress for £6, I used to supplement my income at college by making christening outfits, little frillie dresses with matching frillie knickers and then old fashion mop caps, they used to take me ages.

The frill was made using our wire edged taffeta ribbon (can be found HERE), I just pulled the wire out of the edges, so that it would be washable. You could use a satin ribbon but as this is a much thicker ribbon it would not have produced such a frillie frill! I took a very long piece of 6 stranded thread, (long enough to go all the way round the dress and more) and stitched a running stitch all the way along one edge of the ribbon, gathering it up as I went. Once the ribbon was fully gathered, I just sewed into onto the dress by hand.

This leaf garland is just wicked, I have been itching to use it (can be found HERE). With matching thread I hand stitched it down the centre with a simple running stitch. The flowers were made using the same wire edge taffeta ribbon (wire removed). The flower is in the same style as the sheer ones we made earlier in the year - refresh your memory by clicking HERE! I added embroidery thread tufts just by knotting pink and lilac thread together to the centre panel of the dress.

Last few details, I hand stitched around the pockets just so they would stand out a bit. Lastly I tied a couple of little bows to trim the top of the pockets. Simple bow instructions can be found HERE.
Just goes to show what you can do with a few bits of ribbon!! I hope you enjoy the dress as much as Mollie does, she refused to take it off yesterday!!!!

Full Bloom - Part 3
01/06/2010
What a horrid wet day, how can we have two days so different?

I took this picture on Sunday at Seatown on the Jurassic coast, we never made Portland this weekend. The colours were just so awesome, look at that horizon. I think this view is just so fantastic, I just had to find a way I could look at it every day.....you may notice it in the side bar, I even managed to hide the crab pot buoys under the letters! Tee hee.
Although it has been raining for most of the day I have had the lovely job of looking at wonderful Full Bloom Challenge goodies, the photos were taken last week when the sun was shining. We are showcasing two more talented crafters today, Jenny and Margaret. Not sure when Margaret is home she has been on a cruise, lucky you Margaret.

Jenny made these two charming brooches, they are just delish, I love them.

I think this is very clever Jenny, the way you have used the ribbon as curtains - just perfect.

You have been busy Jenny, (it confused Rachie!) we only stock this leaf ribbon in white or moss. Looks like the white leaf takes ink very well - good thinking Jenny.

A wedding theme card from Margaret, simple but elegant.

Margaret this bookmark is just what I need. (I have found a new author and have started to whizz through her books. Any one else read Annie Groves? I have started with her latest release and am working backwards - I like to be different.) This is just so simple, a length of ribbon stuck onto card, with a ribbon tag at the top - how pretty is that?

Margaret had the same idea as Jenny about this leaf ribbon, but not until after she had stuck it on to the card! But she sent me several samples, so I could see her results. This is ALL gobbledegook to me, but you will understand what Margaret has used. She produced a lilac sample with a squirt of Cosmic Shimmer Mist in Bilberry Crush and a pink piece using Distress Ink "Worn Lipstick" on a cotton pad and then rubbed onto the leaves. She advised that you keep dabbing until the colour is how you like it. They both look quite stunning.

This card is dramatic Margaret with its shiny card, it really pulls the colours from the ribbon.

Not sure what you call these cards - anyone help me out? I will call this Margarets Zig Zag card, it would look elegant on anyones mantle piece, standing tall and proud.
I have been busy sewing over the weekend, not quite what I had planned, will tell all tomorrow, and more challenge goodies on Thursday.

Rain, Rain go Away....
01/06/2010
Mollie wants the rain to go away, she had the pleasure (well she was the only one of us dressed for the rain, I got soaked taking these pictures!!) of picking this weeks Friday FREEBIE in the RAIN!!!

The winner is number.... 25. Tina -
Tina wrote -"fingers crossed that i will be lucky this time! love teen xx"
Well done Tina, keeping your fingers crossed all weekend certainly worked - you have a wonderful collection of grosgrain ribbons sat waiting for you. Please email craftyribbons@gmail.com with your address, I am sure we have it on file but just in case you have moved.
Thank you all for the scrummy comments that you left us this week, we hope you had super holiday weekends. It would appear that we had a problem with our RSS feed on Friday and that not all of you got updated with our posting - sorry about this, I have no idea if it is fixed!
Will be back later with some more challenge goodies.

P.S. I forget to mention that we have 2 NEW blinkies for the Friday FREEBIE - please do take from the side bar and and use on your blogs, tell the world about our Friday FREEBIE!
Have fun.
