This card has come all the way from Italy - we are international you know!!! Paola we love your daisy, very fresh and fun.

The photo does not show that the butterfly is 3D - this is awesome Paola, the simplicity of the ribbon with the detail of the butterfly - perfect.

Welcome back Tina, we have missed you. Look at this card - WOW!

I think we are all dotty about this ribbon Tina, dots on dots.

What a great idea - sending a hug.  Is it a cd that you have covered Tina? It is gorgeous, I know a little girl that would love to get her hands on this!

Oh how this would make any gift look extra special and the sheerness of the ribbon seems to blend with any colour. Wonderful Tina, hope you enjoyed the challenge.

Amanda I have not forgotten your treasures, I will share them next week, I am hoping I will be able to incorporate them with an idea I have - say no more!! Tammy your goodies still have not arrived - boo hoo!

Hello Wednesday - up, up and away

08/09/2010

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all down hill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

The moment I saw this balloon ribbon I fell in love - up, up and away!

This is ribbon perfect for cards, snip, snip, a bit of coloured card and a touch of glue and you are done!!

Wow that was quick. Honest it is very easy.  I cut some white card the same size as the ribbon 40mm and stuck it onto the back of the ribbon with double side tape, just to give it a little extra strength.  I then put foam pads onto the trio of balloons and fixed each to a different coloured card.  With my craft knife I cut away the card to leave a border around each balloon set.

I fixed a piece of the matching check towards the bottom edge of the card, once again with double sided tape, tuck the raw ends inside the card.  I positioned the balloon sets on to the card allowing room for my bow at the end.  I stuck everything in place with glue and that was it!!

if you love this ribbon as much as me you can find the balloon one HERE and the check ribbon HERE.  They come from our "Fun in the Sun" Collection, not sure about you but we could do with some sun in Dorset today.

Have a good Wednesday everyone.

Nearly there

07/09/2010

We have nearly finished sharing the challenge goodies with you, with a smattering today and the balance on Thursday, Challenge 17 Swiss Dots will then be over - boo hoo.  But don't panic, I am pleased to say that all the Christmas Ribbons Challenge # 18 parcels were sent out today. Keep an eye out for your postie tomorrow!!! BUT please be gentle with him.

Todays challenge treats have come all the way from America, Misti always plays along with our Friday FREEBIE -(by the way if you are Number 15 Angela we have not had an email to claim your prize!).

Oooh this is a very elegant card Misti - simple but perfect.

We really like this one too, have you used a punch to make the slits for the ribbon? Looks pretty cool Misti.

Beryl these are such cuties, we love, we want. The cluster of roses and ribbons is awesome.

Hippo twins, so adorable.  Although I thought Beryl had used faulty ribbon, it looks as if it has been over printed in the photo, shock horror. Calm down Ali, Beryl had used two different ribbon colours tied together - phew!

This is my favourite, what a duo.  Beryl before I get blasted with emails, please can you tell everyone where you have got your trio of twins - please, pretty please.

Great makes girls, both Misti and Beryl are in the new challenge, what will they create with the new christmas ribbons? We will just have to wait and see.

We still have one unclaimed prize from last weeks Friday FREEBIE - could it be you, have a scroll down and check.  It would be a nice surprise to find out you have a Bev's Bag with all that fruit waiting for you.

I have a few more challenge delights to share with you all.

Pretty in pink, what super colouring Jan and the ribbon is a perfect match.

Jan this card must have taken you ages, it is awesome.

Look at the detail. Jan really enjoyed working with the ribbon, she was buzzing with ideas and could have gone on forever.

This cracker and cake box was Jan's first venture away from cards.  Wow your first, they are amazing. Sadly the cracker was empty but I did find a surprise or two in the cake box.  Those sweets are my favourites, have you tried the toffee version Jan? To die for!!

Leigh started a new job earlier in the year and she has been unable to join in with any of the challenges.  But this new swiss dot ribbon brought creative thoughts to the surface again!

Very fine detail here Leigh, glad you liked the ribbons.

Pretty tag card, we do like this purple colour - very rich. Thanks Leigh, hope you are still enjoying your new job.

What a scrummy looking cupcake, I love the double bow on the side Karen - clever.

Overflowing with tags! You really matched the ribbons to those wicked glitter tags Karen. I want some of that card, I am sure I will find some at Exeter.

Karen suggested that the keyring could be for a holiday retreat (nice) or a "back to school" locker.  I think it would look extra special on my camera bag - d'ont you!

This I think is a wicked idea Karen. It not just any old card have a look inside.....

Brill, just brill.

Once again thank you to everyone for these delightful creations - we are not finished yet.  I still have one more bundle to photograph and share with you all.....BUT......I have this funny........feeling.......coming on.

Rather strange feeling actually.......

Another cha....lle...nge maybe.......

Oh..... you will just have to wait and see what the weekend brings!!!

Hello Wednesday - Lavender?

01/09/2010

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all down hill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

On my last trip to France I came home with a car boot full of lavender, much to Tonys disgust. He complained all the way home about the smell! You either love it or hate it.

I think ribbon was made for lavender, they make a perfect couple whether you are making lavender bags, lavender wands or just a simple bunch of lavender flowers - you just have to use ribbon.

Lavender bags made from wide sheer ribbon are soooo simple.  Both the ribbons I used had wires running through the edges, simply remove it by pulling it out.  You need about 25cms of ribbon for each bag, the wider the ribbon the better.  I used the white sheer ribbon from our Wedding collection HERE and the flower ribbon from our Full Blooms range HERE. Both are perfect for lavender bags.

Fold the ribbon in half lengthwise and sew either by hand or machine along both sides of the ribbon.  Using a spoon fill the ribbon bag with lavender heads, push them down so you can get as much in as poss.  Tie a matching ribbon around the top to secure, I thought the dark purple velvet ribbon made them look luxurious, you can find it HERE.

The ribbon wand should be made when the lavender stems are green, mine were rather dried and very brittle.  But with a little perserverance and care they can still be made at this time of year. They take a lot longer than the lavender bags and I was banished to the garden to fiddle with these.  Tony couldn't cope with the smell while he watched telly! Arrrgh poor Tony - he has very bad tooth ache at the moment, an infection so I was really quite happy to go and sit in the garden and play. I will save this project till the Spring when the lavender will be perfect.

If you haven't got time to make either the lavender bags or the lavender wands then just bunch the lavender together and tie with ribbon, that could not be simpler.

Enjoy your lavender.
