Hello Wednesday - lots of ruffles
26/01/2011

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
This project may not be for everyone, BUT the idea can be used in so many different ways......

I treated myself to a new toy, It looked rather daunting to use.

Tony wanted to know if I was going to be doing open heart surgery with it........no silly, it's a ruffler. Ooooh play time. Once I managed to fit it to my sewing machine it was all a breeze.

You can turn any flat ribbon into amazing ruffles and pleats. This was my first play item and no unpicking was involved. Think I will be using this gizmo over and over again, just think what you can put ribbon ruffles onto.......
Everyone loves Polka Dots, so we think you are going to like these NEW Ribbons.

They will be on the site soon.
Have a fantastic Wednesday.

Thank you for all your wonderful get well comments and emails you sent me. After a visit to the Doctors, 6 magic pills and a wonderful cream I feel much better. My face has almost returned to normal, I will no longer be mistaken for a navigation buoy in Poole harbour!!!!! The Doctor believes it was a sudden allergic reaction to nuts. I have eaten nuts all my life and never had a problem, he suggested I test it in a few weeks time - naarh I will pass on that one.
Have fun today.

Friday FREEBIE - 3
21/01/2011
No Ali today, she is feeling pretty poorly, she has an allergic reaction to something (it could be me but definitely not ribbon) and it is making her unwell.
Bev and I got our heads together and decided that todays Friday FREEBIE prize would be four of Bev's Birthday Bags.

So if you would like one of Bev's bags all you have to do is leave a comment and we will pick the winners on Monday. There are oodles (as Ali would call it) of different ribbons in Bev's bag.
We hope you get better soon Ali, I am sure she will read this at some point today. She was still in bed when I left for work which is very unlike her - she must be ill.
Have a great weekend, I think Ali had planned some sort of challenge announcement on Sunday, but to be honest I can not remember. I know I should pay more attention, but I am only a man!!
Tony x

Hello wednesday - Valentine Card
19/01/2011

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
Was just "Meant to be". Two into one.

I was really pleased with myself, I had made two Valentine cards in an evening. Remember I am not a card maker, so I do struggle a bit, this was a big achievement!
The first card was I thought very "clean and simple" a large red card with the sweetie heart ribbon running across the centre, white stitching around the outside.

I had been looking for my white pen so I could do some faux stitching around the edge, stupid me I was sat in front of my sewing machine - use that you silly thing!

I added the kiss me label of folded ribbon on the last whizz round. Finished, I loved it. By the way this Valentine Ribbon - Sweetie Heart is selling out fast, at the moment it is not repeatable.
Next was a smaller white card, I wanted to use some of the Alpha Tags and a bow. The tags were just perfect to portray my message of love.

I had also taken a shine to the NEW wide polka dot ribbon, not very valentinie, but it was a perfect colour match to bring all the elements of my card together.

I cut away the edges of the polka dot ribbon and frayed them slightly before sewing them onto the card using a zig zag stitch.
Tying the sheer bow and adding the tags was easly done with a few 3D foam pads. That's it card two finished. It all sounds very quick, but this had taken me several hours, putting the ribbon here, taking it off, moving it around a bit. I am sure you know what I mean.
I put them down on the table, ready to take into the office the next morning. Two Valentine projects completed and I was a week early!

The next morning I thought the fairies had waved their magic wand during the night, I woke up to find this card on my desk!!!
It was meant to be.......

New Mini Check Ribbons
18/01/2011
We all love gingham ribbon, it is perfect for so many different projects and is almost irresistable at Christmas time!
But what do you think of this new mini check.....

This mini check version is a new addition to our range. The ribbon is 5mm wide and the little checks are just over 1mm squares, making it perfect for miniature crafts. Fifteen different colours and all available in 1mtr lengths, so you can buy as little or as much as you want.
Alpha Tags have designed super colour co-ordinating mini tags to compliment this NEW range.

The tags are smaller then before at just over 5cms high and come in packs of 8.
Ribbons and tags - a winning team! View them all HERE.

Stormy weekend
17/01/2011
Did anyone else have the storm over the weekend? We live on top of a hill, and it is windy at the best of times, but the storm was awful. I could hear it whipping around the house, the dustbin lids went flying, clanging their way across stones. Sadly the storm has ruined my garden, it's very young and not at all established, we only planted it last March. My cordylines are all wrecked, the Jasmines have been wrenched from the trellis - so feeling rather down.
Only way I could think off to make me feel better was, a bit of retail therapy, no not for me - but ribbons!!!! So a nice big order has been placed for the Grosgrain Swiss Dot ribbons, our stocks had become rather depleted after the Christmas rush. It made me feel much better, and if I sell the ribbons I can go and buy more plants!!! Hurrray.
Playing with Sydney and Mollie after school also cheered me up, and I made them both carry cots for their babies - boxes with ribbon handles, well what else. Time goes so quickly when I am having fun and we had forgotton to do the Friday FREEBIE draw. So it was all a bit of a rush before they all went home. The winner of a bundle of Valentine ribbon is.........

.....Mollie had run off with the "Bingo" bag but a least she had left the winning number...
......who is number 10?.....
Number 10 = Louise
Oooh Yes! I would LOVE to win some of those!
Best wishes,
Louise.

What an idea
13/01/2011
.....what do you think of Tilda in her dress and sari?

.....I think she is adorable. Tilda was created by Tina using ribbons from our January Pack Sale (here), what a clever idea.
Thank you Tina for sending the pic and allowing me to share her. If you have been creative with your sale ribbons then please do email us a picture craftyribbons@gmail.com as we would love to see and share them.
All the Sweet Treat ribbons were sent out yesterday (ooops my mistake, I was not in the office yesterday so they must have been sent Tuesday!!!). I know that Gail has received hers and already ripped open the envelope and started crafting. One card already finished but she is unsure whether her daughter Samantha will allow her to send it to me!!!! Tricky one Gail.
