Ready steady go....

I really do not know what gets into Mollie sometimes......................how many children like to wear their cycle hat? Not just wear it but really really like wearing it?
I would have thought not many..........but not our Mollie. I must admit that she has always liked something on her head, we used to say it was because she had very little hair? But now nobody knows.
Why am I telling you all this.........because of this................

What is she like?
She was having a problem holding all 4 numbers from this weeks Friday FREEBIE, so mummy came to the rescue with some cellotape!

Ooooooooooh I still ache. Oooh me leg, ooh me back and talk about bruises. I wish I could blame Tony for the shelving idea, but..................yep you guessed it..................all mine!!! NO we have not rebuilt the shelving I think it will sit in the loading bay for a little bit longer!!
We have some scrummy button ideas for you today from Michelle, Tracey and Bonnie.

I was a little bit bemused when I opened Michelles envelope, I put my hand in and pulled out these..........I looked at them................I turned them over.....................looked at them again..................nope could not see any buttons on them what so ever. Mystery!! Until I read the note...........aaaah prezzies for me and the girls. Coasters for our crafty cuppa's, wow how wonderful thank you Michelle I went round to all the girls desks and introduced them to their new friends. Brill Michelle.

This definitely was for the button challenge, loads and loads of buttons Michelle.

I really wish you could have a feel of this heart, it is all squishy and soft.

Now Michelle was really teasing me, was this part of the challenge or had she wrapped up something else? Was the painted button the challenge?

Oooh Michelle you were making me think! Did you or didn't you?

I had a good old feel of the newspaper wrapped prezzie and decided there WAS something inside............ Two perfectly colour corodinated hair slides and a button ring. Perfect Michelle.

Here is my assistant, wearing Michelles creation!

Tracey calls this a tactie card - she and Paul make these cards for visually impaired people. I must say Tracey the first thing I wanted to do was to feel it!! It shouts "touch me, touch me". Cool card.

We have had a few earings on this button challenge, but this is the first pair of stud earings. How simple are they! Just think how much you would have to pay for those at a craft fair Tracey, wicked idea.

Super little buttoness here Bonnie, I adore the colours.

Perfect, just perfect Bonnie.
Cor a long post for me today, I hope you have enjoyed looking at all the wonderful crreations you can do with our button boxes. Last showing of all the creations tomorrow - don't miss them!

Hello Wednesday - It's a wrap
22/06/2011

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
A very simple project for today, it may be simple but I think makes a perfect enhancement!

I did say it was simple!!
I knotted two pieces of ribbon together, starting from the top at the back of the vase I just wrapped the ribbon around the vase to the front. Twisted the ribbon at the front and then took the ribbons back round to the back again.

I just carried on down the vase and then tied a bow at the bottom. Simple.
Tony and I were out of the office all day yesterday, we had purchased some new ribbon racking (well new to us). The one thing our warehouse is short of is racking, we have tons of ribbon but struggle to put it anywhwere. Anyway we bought this racking online and thought that we would go and collect it together, a nice day out. We used our lorry with its tail lift, I had made a pile of sandwiches and a big flask and we set off at 5.30 on our little adventure expecting to be back in the warehouse about tea time.
Well................we have never worked so hard..........................every part of my body aches.......even places I didn't know I had!!!! It turned out to be 3 tonnnes that needed dismantling, and loaded onto the lorry. I have never given up on something before but I came so close yesterday. There was no joy when the final shelf cross bar had been banged out and loaded onto the lorry. We were both exhausted and we still had to drive home. What had started as a little adventure had turned into a nightmare.
It was a very quiet drive home, neither of us had the energy to speak and the knowledge that we had to off load when we got back was tormenting us. As we pulled into Tin Pot Lane at about 8.30, with the thought of manhandling 3 tonnes again, I really didn't think we could do it. The lorry HAD to be emptied, it is always in use.
As we rounded the corner to our unit, there were 3 people standing waving at us, I could have cried. Rachie, her husband Marten and little Mollie had all come to help. Rachie had a cup of tea waiting for us, the loading bay door open and a big space had been cleared to put the shelving in. It still took all of us 2 hours, but it was much more fun. Mollie loved riding up and down on the tail lift and Rachie kept us topped up on teas. Thank you guys you were amazing. What team work.
As I missed Mondays and yesterdays buttonness delights I thought I would do some today.
I love your wacky cake Vicki.

The button detail just makes it extra special.

This is really special, the effect is so unusual Vicki.

I think the tree has been stamped then enhanced with glossy accents, before the buttons and gems were added. Am I correct Vicki?

These tower earings are wicked Laura and such fun. It is great how you have created the ombre effect.

Wow a matching bracelet, such neat stitching Laura and a button hole. Well impressed - I got my button hole foot out for my new sewing machine at the weekend. I looked and looked at it, naaarh and decided my project did not really require a button hole after all!!!!

I think this card is so elegant Laura, and a great idea to use wire to secure the buttons, it makes a change from stitching them. I haven't taken a photo of the inside (sorry) but Laura has used a strip of matching ribbon to cover the wire ends. Looks stunning.
Thanks to Vicki and Laura for todays buttonness.
I can not do any more typing even my hands and fingers ache!!

Catching a bird
20/06/2011
Sorry for the delay in todays post but we have been busy trying to catch a bird......
Although it has been pouring with rain all day we still had our big roller shutter door open. A big bird flew in, dived bombed and nearly hit Rachie before it settled on the rafters. This happens a few times in the year, so we did the normal. turned the lights out so that it could see the big open space of the door and fly back out. Nope it just sat there.
We had to get it out, otherwise we were unable to set the alarms and nobody had volunteered to be Bird nightwatch man!! You should have seen us trying to get this bird out it was a right giggle. Finally it obviously had enough of us singing "we want to go home....." that it flew out. Quick get the shutter closed before it decided it was too wet outside.
So this weeks Friday FREEBIE winners are........................Mollie had no problem in putting her coat on and standing in the rain (it was rather dark in the warehouse without the lights on)................she picked................

Day 5 of our Button Week........ummmm.................I think I was rather over optimistic that I could show case everyones creations in 1 week!! Yes, I could take the pictures and just put them on the blog, but that is not my style, is it. I like to show you the finer details with close ups...........so therefore our button week is going to turn into two weeks!! Yeah!!
Today we have the work of Jenny and Sherry, and wow have these two girls got something to show us - both very different but totally unique.

This is a first Jenny, nobody has sent me a clock before. And it works! Can you guess what Jenny has used to create this perfect circle, I bet you can...........

...................a CD. Wicked Jenny, what a super piece of inspiration.

Jenny's other creation was this perfect hair band, What scrummy colours, how did you cut such perfect felt flowers? I know a very proud little girl that would love this, her stabilisers have been removed from her bike.......and she can do it!! Sydney is riding her bike.

Oh Sherry I have always wanted to make something like this. Not sure I know the correct name for it, but I call it "Shabby Chic". Your Button Queen will be well looked after Sherry.

If you thought the Button Queen was wicked, then what about Sherry's wall hanging......................

.................perfection....................

I certainly have lots of fresh inspiring material for our exhibition stands this Autumn. Thank you Jenny and Sherry for such works of art, and a big thank you to everyone that took time out to be part of our Button Challenge. There will be more Buttonness all next week, so pop on and leave a comment for our challengers.
Do you think it is time for me to set a NEW Challenge? Can anyone spare a little time to come up with some ribbon and or button inspiration? What would your ultimate Challenge be? What would you like to have a play with? Questions, questions, questions - sorry! Let me know your thoughts, you can always email me craftyribbons@gmail.com or put it in your comment and i will see what Crafty Ribbons can do.
Have a great weekend.

Button Week - Day 4
16/06/2011

ALL 59 Summer Holiday Designs are on the website
you can find them HERE.
Special offer - spend £12 on Summer Holiday Ribbons and you will only be charged £10.
That's a Summer holiday bargain!!!
That's right the more you buy the cheaper it becomes. If you only want 1mtr of the sandcastle than that is fine by us, but if you want a mtr of several different designs or 5mtrs of one and 10mtrs of another that is also fine. The discount will automatically appear in your basket once the total Summer Holiday spend has reached £12.
I never thought I would get this range onto the website - as you know I had yesterday all planned to input them. Then....................I got flung back into a winter wonderland! Honest I did. There appears to be a problem with one of our NEW Christmas Ribbon Ranges.............so my whole day disappeared trying to get it sorted. There is only so much you can do by telephone and email - I really hope we can get it sorted it is a wicked range!
Anyway back to buttons, today we are showcasing the work of Toni and Claire.
I know I have already shown you this......................but....................

..............I think he is wicked. He is huge, well A4 size. What imagination you have Toni.

The way you have shaded the picture by using different size and colours. Exquisite.

Very relaxed all in green, calming I think. I love the way Toni has picked out the yellow colour of the design and used matching thread to sew the buttons on with. Very clever.

Ooops! Confession Time - I no longer have these hair slides Toni, the smallest member of our team took a shine to them. "Mollie like - put in Ali please". Yes all of them at once and you may recall that Mollie does not have that much hair!!!! I can honestly say Toni these are well loved.

This leaf is so real Claire, I had to run my fingers over it.

Ooooh a little concertina box, I was intrigued Claire.....................

WOW! I have never had one of these before. It is a amazing, a little sewing kit. Cor really impressed with this little guy Claire.
Thank you both for sharing you talents with us, such a pleasure discovering all these little gems. I hope you are all enjoying the buttoness we are displaying this week. All the buttons in our Button Week have come from our Button Boxes and you can find them HERE.
Friday FREEBIE tomorrow, any suggestions on what the FREEBIE could be?

Hello wednesday - Daisy, Daisy..
15/06/2011

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!
Talk about "To the line, just in time" - I only finished todays project this morning! The glue is still wet so I was unable to photgraph it any other way than FLAT.

A simple little creation just to ease the Mojo back. I have had this faux suede photo album kicking around for a while, I liked it but...............it was missing something. After my evening of sorting piles of matching liitle buttons, these daisies sort of grew all on their own. What a way to capture those memories.
SD cards and online galleries are all well and good, but there is nothing like sitting back with a photo album and having a good old reminisce. Flicking through the album pages, a little giggle or even a single tear, nothing quite like it. Lay this on any coffee table and I bet no one would be able to resist it's charm and have a flick!
I avoided the cake tin yesterday afternoon but decided to dive into a crate of Bargain Rolls - they had been sat by my desk for almost 3 weeks waiting to be added to the website. When I do not want to do something, rather then hiding it away so I can not see it I have a tendency to put it somewhere that is in the way. It's amazing how I had got used to stepping over the crate to get to my chair.
Anyway yesterday I got the job done, over 30 NEW Bargain Ribbon Rolls have been added to the site.

You can find them all HERE.
Todays job - the Summer Holiday Ribbons, really looking forward to putting these on. By the way will still have one unclaimed prize from our Friday FREEBIE this week and also one a few weeks back for the NEW Animal cuties prize.
More buttoness coming your way tomorrow.

Button Week - Day 2
14/06/2011
I have started. I have. To play that is!
I took a big (industrial size) bag of buttons home with me last night. I was sitting on the sofa rummaging through them, trying to find matching colours for my Hello wednesday project. Swishing and swirling the buttons around, making quite a bit of noise, but guess what, not one squeak from Tony. Not even a a raised eyebrow, normally I get comments something along the lines of "What ARE you doing NOW?". But last night .............zip..............nothing........not a peep. Maybe I had been more down then I realised, it was good to play, feeling the buttons through my fingers. No finished Hello wednesday project, just lots of little piles of buttons!!!
So here goes, more button inspiration from.............Clare and Tina.

Flowers, but not just any flowers from Clare...............these are magic flowers. Believe me they are, they stick to everything metal! What a clever idea Clare, they certainly have jazzed up our office fridge door.

Not sure this little notbook will make it back into the office though, looks really comfortable sitting on my desk at home! Although I will admit Clare, every time I look at it I want to go and raid the cake tin. What a cool couple of ideas Clare.

Wow Tina, the detail on the card is amazing. I see you are still loving the sunshine ribbon.

I love your blending, I am never brave enough to do this!

This card is really fun Tina, I adore the wheels! Not being a baby person I always forget about baby cards. Bev has been pushing me (for ages) to design a new range of baby ribbons............but you know...............TIME.

I got to flick through this box of Tina Delights first. Wow I was spoilt for choice, do you want to see what treasures I found.....

..earrings, keyring and my favorite the brooch. But I am going to make sure I keep this little treasure box safe, otherwise Rachie will be selling it on her stall on Sunday! She is like a Magpie sweeping around the office, "Oh can I have this, this would go well!". I must be the only person in Dorset that stocks a Sunday Craft Stall but NEVER sees the money!
Wonderful makes Tina and Clare, super inspiration................maybe I should go and complete my Hello wednesday project.................the paper work can wait!!!!
I am always delighted when I receive photos of the wonderful creations you make with our ribbons and buttons. Fiona sent me a couple of photos of her button chest.

I love this style of box, always reminds me of secret treasure.

Did you do the pyrography yousefl Fiona? It is amazing. Wished you had sent me a picture of the box open, I would love to see it filled with buttons! Thanks for sharing with us Fiona and for your wonderful comments about our website and blog, and please keep up the good work of spreading the Crafty Ribbons word.
Paperwork,...................or.................buttons and hello wednesday............................well actually my inbox is rather full.......................but then tomorrow is wednesday.........................Oh damm I looked at Clare's notebook.....it will have to be the cake tin.
