Pouring with rain

24/10/2011

Gosh have we had some rain this afternoon, thankfully we had our warehouse gutters cleared from leaves last week.  Good bit of thinking there Tony!

Even though it is half term we have had no little visitors, Sydney and Sam are way at their grand parents and little Mollie was off sick with a cold.  Poor bunny, I saw her yesterday and she kept saying her nose was running away!!!

Rachie pulled the short straw and picked this weeks Friday FREEBIE winner.

Oooops - we got into a fit of giggles and did not realise that we should have picked two numbers from the "Bingo" Bag.....sorry.
So I will triple Rachies number to give us the second prize winning number.  Got that! I hope so.

Number 11 = Mary
Hello All,

It would have to be the traditional Bevs bag for me.
Love the new grograin ribbons.  Thanks for all the card ideas.
Have a great weekend,
Mary x

Number 33 = Frances
Ooooh it would have to be the traditional bag for me. I just love red and green at christmas. The snowmen are so cute as well. Here's hoping.

Spooky Ghosts.....

24/10/2011

I found a ghost in my garden

Oooooh no lots of little ghosts......

I dread to know what my neighbours think of me!!

Do you remember I told you last week I had a crafting session planned with Sydney. Well.........I had two little crafters that also wanted to join in.  As soon as Syd and I started to climb the stairs to my craft room we heard "me too, me too", and Mollie and Sam came running to join in. Three of them in my craft room, with all my studio lights arrrgh.  I tried to ask Syd if we could all craft downstairs on the canteen table, "Ali you promised me we could craft in your room".  So one at a time I took them upstairs (the stairs to my craft room are filled with crafty bits that need to find their way upstairs, so there is only a very narrow passage to walk up).  I have a big long kitchen style work top underneath a window, so I pulled up my chair for Syd, a stool for Mollie and Sam wanted the step ladders (don't ask!).

We are going to make ghosts, "I don't like ghosts" Sam said! You will like these Sam you can eat them.  So here is a little tutorial for the children of our ribbon world.

You will need a square tissue (3 ply) a lollipop, white ribbon, glue and googly eyes.

Seperate the three layers of the tissue, all my three little crafters had no problem with this, although one was a little rough and tore his!

Place each layer of the tissue on the table to form a star shape.

Place the lollipop in the centre.

Pick up the tissue so the lollipop is covered.

Scrunch the ribbon around the base of the lollipop.

Tie white 3mm satin ribbon (here) around the neck.  (Syd wanted hers tied in a bow!)

Put the googly eyes on and you have one finished spoooky ghost!

This is a perfect project for half term, Mollie will be 3 in November and she managed to make her own ghost.  The guys used a felt tip pen to draw a mouth on each of their ghosts.  What do you think of their creations?

Enjoy

P.S.  That is our Mollie on the left, it was Hero's Day at school and she went dressed as a princess - only problem was she loved having hair so much she refused to take the wig off!!!

New England Treasures

20/10/2011

More New England treasures to inspire you today from Karen and Laura.  Please do not worry if your goodies have not been shown yet, it was a very large Challenge and I only like to share a few masterpieces at a time.  Everyone takes such time to create their wonders that I feel it is only correct for them to be shared in the same way.

Very striking Karen, I love the use of the background paper.  I am rather a scaredy cat when using patterned paper, and normally play safe and use plain!!  But the use of this wonderful holly and berry really gives your card that super Christmas feel.

WOW I would never have been brave enough to put PINK with this collection Karen, BUT it looks amazing.  One wicked card Karen.

Laura has made a recipe book with her ribbons from the New England Collection.  She wrote a note saying " A bit of card, lots of ribbon and some buttons".  I think you forgot to mention a lot of inspiration and time Laura!  This is some piece of art, I will take you through the pages.  This is the front cover, very fresh looking.

We have Mulled wine, I like the little line of cheecky hearts.........we love mulled wine!  We also have brandy butter, I had no idea you could freeze this for 3 months.

Then pastry and mincemeat (i think we are heading for Tonys all time best recipe).  Fab idea with the little rocking horse charm Laura.

Thought so......Mince Pies.  Laura this is wonderful, the little ribbon tabs on the sides of the pages are just perfect for turning.

Laura also includes a few mini cards, she said thay were cute but not very good if you had large handwriting or a long name!!!  But they are CUTE.

I am glad you enjoyed the challenge Laura and many thanks for your comment about the ribbon designs. I had such fun creating them, although I will admit this range was the most stressfull of all our EXCLUSIVE Collection.  The printers had trouble getting the line of tiny hearts that run along the edges - straight. Also the colour was a BIG issue.  But we worked very closely with the factory and in the end tried a new form of printing and the results..............well...................in my opinion are perfect!!!

Thank you Karen and Laura for joining in with our Challenge, we have a very busy few weeks ahead of us, so maybe it is time to think of a NEW Challenge.  (I have not mentioned this to Rachie, so mums the word shhhhhh!).  I have had the idea forming while we were away on Sark, you get to do a lot of thinking there.

Have a great day.

Phew.....

17/10/2011

What a busy day, the girls had a huge pile of work ready for me to do this morning.  I thought it was rather mean of them they could have settled me in gently from my two weeks away from the warehouse.  But do not worry I WILL get my own back!

Sorry this post is rather later then I hoped, but we had a biggish delivery of ribbons today and I wanted to get it all checked in before certain people started to raid from it!  All done and put away on the shelves and yes there are some NEW ribbons.  So a photography session is planned.

Mollie and Sydney were helping me unpack the order, but decided that the boxes looked like fun and started to build a camp with them.  I just managed to get a few minutes to help with the "Bingo" bag winner of our friday FREEBIE prize.  I see the girls have given away my Swiss Dots - we all like those.

So the winner of this weeks Friday FREEBIE prize is.....

Number 26 = Marjorie
Hi Bev and Rachie, hope you have been good all week. smiles.
What a fab prize, fingers crossed, as I really do need some more ribbon,I do, honestly.
I love the Swissdots ones and  a 'Want it All' pack too, WOW!!, what a fab prize.
Hope Ali and Tony have had a wonderful time. xx
Good Luck all. Hugs.

Cor Marjorie, keeping your fingers crossed must have worked!  Please send your address to me at craftyribbons@gmail.com and we will send you hundreds of dots.......

Thanks to everyone that left super comments.  Tony and i had a fantastic time, you may have guessed where I took him  No, well we took a plane to Guernsey and then caught a small boat to Sark.  I was a little apprehensive about my choice of location for Tony's birthday, he is rather a speed freak and likes his cars.......well Sark has NO cars only tractors for delivering items around the island.  You have to walk everywhere.  We had to walk to our hotel, thankfully our cases were picked up by tractor.  The little map the hotel sent me said it would take about 20mins......well i did not mention this bit to Tony until after we had arrived at the harbour.

Tony did tell me he wanted to get away - well on Sark we did just that.

Night before Christmas - New England style

11/10/2011

Emma has really captured the feel of the night before Christmas in her card.  All those little stockings hanging up on the fire place.  When I designed this range of ribbon -New England Christmas here, I had this vision of Christmas's past as a child, just like Emmas card.

A perfect Santa Emma.  I think this is called a step card (not sure, so please forgive me if I am wrong). Santa is hiding a secret in his steps.

Little hearts, that is fantastic Emma, very clever.

Emmas last card is very stylish, I love the simplicity of it - super cards Emma.

Tracey and Paul have captured the simplicity and elegance of this ribbon range with a super card. Love the tree motifs - fantastic colours

I think this second card from Tracey and Paul is great fun, the way they have added the extra parcel and a little bag (of sweets I hope) to the ribbon design. With the simple tied ribbon knot and the bright gold merry christmas message, this is a wicked card.

I am still away on a little island with Tony, I pre wrote this post before leaving, hoping to catch up with you all at the weekend.

Take care

Heard nothing from Ali

10/10/2011

We have heard nothing from Ali all day, not a phone call, text or email. Can she really last the whole week without contacting us. She has left the hotel number but with strict instructions not to call unless the warehouse burns down! Nice.

It was down to Bev and myself to pick the winners of this weeks Friday FREEBIE voucher, who is going to be spending £20 in our store for FREE?

Number 33 = Gill

Ooh I'd just love to win that voucher and fulfil my wish list of more gorgeous ribbons from you. 500 bags?! Wow what a great day! Hope the weekend is still going well.

Well done Gill the £20 voucher is all yours. All we need are your details, please could you email them to me at rachie.craftyribbons@gmail.com DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESS TO THE NORMAL ONE.

Thanks to everyone that left us a comment, Bev and I enjoyed reading them all.

We wish Tony and Ali a wonderful holiday, but we are taking bets to see how long it will be before Ali contacts us on the QT!

Rachie and Bev x x

Not forgetting Mollie, Sydney and Sam x x x

Away on an island

10/10/2011

By the time you read this Tony and I will be on our way to a small island.  I have had enough and run away!!!

No not really, it is Tony's birthday tomorrow and I arranged a little secret holiday for us.  The only information I gave him, was that we were going to a small island that had no cars.........I think he guessed. First stage is by plane and then by boat, I do hope the sea state is going to be good, as it is only a small boat!

Tony asked for nothing for is birthday apart from me..............aaaah.  What I believe he means is no laptop, no website, no intenet, no telephones.  So I am being very brave and going cold turkey, and leaving my treasured gadgets behind.  I will be a nervous wreck by the weekend.  I hope he realises what a sacrifice I have made!!!!

But before I go here is another selection of wonderful creations from our new England Challenge.

I do think this collection of cards from Cath very ingenious.  The way she has used the ribbon parcels as her inspiration for her wire work.

Super cool Cath.

This is pretty unique Cath, I love it.

Just in case you could not see the trees, they have been sewn.  I do like your style Cath, hope you had fun playing.

I have written a few posts for the next few days, which the girls will hopefully remember to post for me.  If you do need any help then do contact Rachie or Bev on the office number 01258 455889 or by email rachie.craftyribbons@gmail.com

Have a super week and I will catch up with you all at the weekend.
