A little bit of glitter

22/09/2011

I do love Carols cards, they are always so perfect. I was really delighted when Mandy picked Carol for one of our NEW DT girls over on our Challenge blog here. I just can not believe how popular it has become, if you have not checked it out then please do, we have one of Bev's NEW Autumn cascades as the prize this week.

Carol entered the New England Challenge before she was picked to be a DT girl, so she got to play with these ribbons before the others!

How simple is that, a very effective design Carol.

It glistens and sparkles like a Christmas Tree should.

A quick change of colour, two strips of ribbon and a message and a super card is born. I make it sound so easy Carol, but I do know that the time is in the thinking of the designs.

Great work Carol and thank you for joining in.

It is the first day of the Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts in Exeter today. The stand went together like a dream yesterday - thanks to all the wonderful girls in the warehouse. They really are super!

Wish Tony and I luck, we have not done an exhibtion stand since March, there maybe a slight delay while we get up to speed!!! If you are visiting the show, please do pop in and say "Hi", we love to meet our readers.

Hello wednesday - Gingerbreads

21/09/2011

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

We had a NEW delivery of buttons last week, and as usual the girls ripped open the boxes to see what I had ordered.  After the oooh's and aaahs had died down I started the process of checking in the consigment. Not a quick job, but I started getting very confused, I appeared to be short of several items, and I could not find any of my NEW Gingerbreads.  I searched the boxes thinking maybe I had overlooked them.

I should have known better, Rachie and Bev had removed all my stock of these.....

I borrowed this idea from one of the other girls, "They would make great necklaces Ali".  I used 4mm silk ribbon here to thread through the small hole.  It was quite tricky but afterwards I thought I could have attached a simple jump ring to the gingerbreads and then used any ribbon.  Durrr Ali!

Stocks of these gingerbreads are limited, I am trying to order some more, we will be taking them to the Exeter show.  They also come with a matching gingerbread house of the same size and smaller silver boys and girls.  If anyone is interested in me putting a few away and bringing them back from Exeter I will be happy to do so, just email me at craftyribbons@gmail.com  They are not cheap at £1.00 each, but they are super fun!!!

That's me for today, Exeter here we come.  Hope you wonderful visitors are ready for a ribbon and button extravaganza like you have never seen before.  Our stand is the BEST EVER, you have never seen so many ribbons and buttons squeezed onto 10 square metres!!!!!

New England Gift set

20/09/2011

Jan has come up with a super idea for her New England Challenge goodies - a Complete Gift Set.

I think this is a wicked idea and would be delighted to receive such a hand crafted present.

Jan has captured the New England colours perfectly with the card and gift tag.

And look how she has transferred the effect to the candle too.  Pure Magic Jan.

I hope you enjoyed the New England ribbons Jan, they really are very versatile.  I have been told that they are super to work with.

We are putting the final touches to our exhibition stand today.  Only the silk cabinet to complete, a slight little hic cup with it though..... we have not received one of the shipments from Japan- the home of the best silk ribbon in the world.   We have everything crossed that it will turn up today, otherwise we are going to have a rather sad looking silk unit.  If you are a silk fan, then all the 2mms are back on our website here.

See you tomorrow with the normal Hello Wednesday.

YOU Create - Kissing Ball

08/09/2011

I had a lovely surprise box from Dorothy a few weeks back.  Sorry it has taken so long to share on the blog Dorothy - Christmas got in the way!!

Any ideas what it is?  It is a kissing ball and took Dorothy 3weeks of evening work to create it.  It is just magic I will show you more....

...from the other side.  There was no one in the office when I took the photo's, so I had to hold the ball with one hand and try to hold the heavy camera with the other while keeping everything steady to focus!!! Phew not easy.

Back on terra firma, much clearer photos, you can see the finer details of Dorothy's work.

Dorothy tells me the wider ribbon is great to work with, but she only had this cream ribbon in her stash, it is a Cristmas one.  No worries Dorothy it looks gorgeous.

The combination of ribbons, pearls and lace has made this a winner.

Thank you so much for spending the time on this kissing ball Dorothy, it is a treasure.

The sun is out so I hoping to have a good full day behind the camera.  Lots to do - New Challenge goodies - halloween ribbons - bev designed a NEW Bag yesterday - Animal Cuties - Basics to go Satin - my list is way to long.....................If I get half of it finished I will be delighted.

Enjoy.

Last of Colour Create

06/09/2011

We are almost at the end of our Colour Create Challenge, it sort of got split in two with the launch of all the Christmas Ribbons - sorry.  I have put an album together of all the creations and you can find it here.

The last two treasures are from Andrea, Melanie and mum too! - once again sorry it has taken so long to showcase your goodies.

I think this is very original Melanie, the heart buttons make perfect buttonflies.

How simple but effective is that? Such a bright idea, if you want to borrow Melanie's inspiration then you can find the buttons here.

Oh Melanie your designs are so elegant.

 Fantastic use of ribbons.

I have never been brave enough to make a totally acetate card.  But Andrea has achieved it with a flourish.  Not a messy bit in sight, even the raw ribbon ends are concealed under the bow, great work Andrea.

This was made by mum, not sure whose, Mels or Andrea's.  When they received all the ribbons and buttons for the challenge, mum just had to join in as well.  Fantastic team work girls. I love the way the little buttons have had ribbon threaded through them - perfect.

Now this is a little beauty Andrea.

Look at all the work, this will be coming to Exeter with us on our exhibition stand.  I am sure a lot of people will get great inspiration from it Andrea.

That's it - another challenge over.  Mega thanks to everyone that took part in our Colour Create Challenge, we hope you enjoyed playing with the ribbons and buttons, we certainly have enjoyed looking at all your wonderful creations.

What a horrid day, I had planned on taking photos, but as I like taking them outside I think they will have to wait! Several parcels have arrived for the start of the NEW Challenge called "New England".  Maybe the sun will be out tomorrow!

Stay dry and warm
