Make It for Mum
21/02/2009
The Make It organisers held a card challenge for the show called "Make it for Mum". I can see the display from our stand and thought you might like to have a look, I could not get up close as it was all roped off. I was pleased to see that several of the cards used ribbon!!!
Only a small collection of pics!
Mix up at Make it
20/02/2009
We had a little mix up with the opening times this morning at the Make It show. We were so delighted that the show opened at 10am rather then 9 as it did last week in Paris, that we left a few jobs to finish off on the stand tihs morning.
The cards from the "Love Chocolate" challenge had to be strung across the front of the stand, all the signs had to be placed on the ribbon cabinets, plenty of time until they announced that the show was open!!! We (Tony!) had forgotten that disabled customers are allowed into the show from 9.30!!! OH NO - coats on the floor, step ladders still out, night sheets all scattered across the stand, quick, quick put everything away.
It was only after lunch that I noticed that there were still a few french signs lurking on the stands!! Never mind - we normally have two stands, one for the French shows and one for the English shows and never do they mix. But sadly some of our exhibition cabinets got pushed over during the burglary and so badly damaged that they were unusable, so hence we now have a Franglais stand!!
Your "Love Chocolate" cards were greatly admired today, with lots of wonderful comments. What everyone enjoys most is the fact you can make so many different styles with the same ribbon.
If you come to the show, do not forget to pop along and say "Hi!"

Wicked day
14/02/2009
What a wicked day we have had at L'aiguille en fête, it has been filled with fun and excitement. I love teaching the magic of ribbon embroidery, a couple of twists of ribbon and you have a flower. We have been demonstrating a new stitch this week that make a gorgeous rose. Tony took over the demo table today, and was embroidering red roses, which went down a storm as it is valentines day!!!
I had a chance to have a wonder this evening... the displays are just wonderful.
I got told off today by two senior french ladies - for adding up in english!!!!!
Valentines in Paris
14/02/2009
Your Valentine cards from the Ribbon Challenge # 1 were in great demand yesterday. Desperate husbands of English exhibitors here in Paris, tried all day to buy or steal your cards to get them out of trouble! You can not buy a Valentine card anywhere (I have tried - oops)!!!!
I gave in when Walter (if you attend the English shows, you will know Walter sells thread) came begging. I gave him one of Leighs cards, she always writes on the back of her card "Do not remove from Crafty Ribbons Stand". He thought this was very funny!!!!!!
Have a great day.
Paris en Fleur
12/02/2009
Crafty Ribbons is in Paris at the L'aiguille en Fête (Festival of the needle) exhibtion at La Vilette in the Grand Hall. La Vilette has been recently restored to its former glory, it is a iron structure with a glass roof, the building is surrounded by original Parisian cobblestones. It is set in a park, which is part of the Cite of Science, also in the park are two restored working watermills powered by nearby canels.
This ribbon embroidery design - Paris en Fleur is on display on our exhibtion stand. It uses our New Hand Dyed Silk Ribbons as well as a new wooden button of the Eiffel Tower.
If you are unable to see this embroidery in person, then you can print the chart for FREE from our website. Just click the picture below.
Have fun with ribbons!
It was Sam's 1st Birthday today and his card was shown on "Milkshake" TV - yeah, well done Bev x (Our ribbons have been on telly!)
Zebra Card
06/02/2009
Finally we got a chance to play with our NEW collection of Animal Print Ribbons today.
We used the wide satin zebra ribbon to make 3 squares, and tied the grosgrain ribbon around the centre square. The shocking pink happy birthday ribbon was just perfect to run along the base of the card. The large paws are metal brads, which are due on the site sooooon!!
Message from Metz
05/02/2009
I have to express how much the French ladies loved your Valentine cards form the ribbon challenge # 1. They really do say "Oo la la"! We have some of the cards strung across the front of the stand and on part of the back wall. The cards have been pointed at, touched and photographed all day, so there are maybe several husbands receiving a version of your card next saturday.
I wanted to include some photos but they have not come out very well, the main problem being the colour of the stand. We have a claret carpet and canary yellow fabric walls!! Not a very neutral colour to display coloured ribbons, embroideries and cards on!!!
It is very cold here, so I wore my scarf (a new french word for me echarpe - scarf), it was also greatly admired. I must point out that I do not speak french, I have learnt my silk ribbon embroidery demonstration parrot fashion. It must sound quite good know, because as soon as I finish I get bombarded by all these questions by eager ladies wanting to know more - Tony help!!!! It is a long day, we do not finish until 7pm, by 4ish I am on brain overload, I can not add up, I get my Trois and Trentes mixed up, but at least I let Tony go off the stand now, he does not have to wait until 6.45 to go to the loo!!!
Thank you all so much, you have given our french customers so much pleasure, and some of them are going to try and get in on the next ribbon challenge. I gather from the girls in the office the "Love Chocolate" cards have started to arrive - can't wait to see them, they are going to Paris next week.
Tri Stripe Ribbons
04/02/2009
Is this ribbon a sheer or a satin? Well it is both!!
Our NEW Tri Stripe Ribbon is made up of three different ribbons, the two outer ribbons are 3mm satins, while the centre ribbon is a 3mm sheer. This stripe ribbon is truly unique and quite stunning. An added bonus, each stripe is a slightly different shade- amazing!!!
There are 12 wonderful colours to the range and come in either 3mtr lengths or on 20mtr rolls - have fun with these Tri Stripe Ribbons
